Marsh Supermarkets, LLC, is known far and wide for support of philanthropic endeavors related to health and education. What people may not know is that Don Marsh also has a deep appreciation for the arts, illustrated
by the art collection at Marsh's corporate headquarters.
Marsh ties to Herron School of Art stretch back to Donald Mattison, who was Herron's dean from 1930 to 1973. Mattison painted a portrait of Don's father, Ermal Marsh, the founder of the grocery store chain. The portrait can
still be seen, displayed prominently in the headquarters lobby.
Marsh Supermarkets stepped forward and boldly gave the very first major corporate financial gift to Herron's first capital campaign, before the building plans had even been developed.
