Dr. J. Thomas Eade, was part of the first graduation class of the Indiana University School of Optometry in 1957. After service as a U.S. Navy lieutenant from 1957-1960, Dr. Eade began private practice in Optometry in 1961, working in New Castle from 1963-1996. From 1996-1999, Dr. Eade served as the optometrist for the Pendleton Reformatory.
Since the 1980s, Dr. Eade was very active with VOSH (Volunteer Optometric Services to Humanity), and traveled on eye care missions to Central and South America, as well as serving on their Board of Governors. He was an active member of the Indiana Optometric Association, and had served as its president from 1975-76. Dr. Eade was also a member of the Indiana University Varsity Club.
Up until his death in 2000, Dr. Eade was a loyal supporter of the School of Optometry, both as a volunteer, as well as a donor and a leader in the Optometric field.
