Robert N. Postlethwait earned a B.S. degree in Chemical Engineering from Purdue University in 1970. Following his graduation, he joined Eli Lilly and Company, where he worked for 30 years. Starting as a staff engineer, he subsequently held numerous positions with the company in the United States, Latin America and Europe. His responsibilities included a number of management assignments in Brazil for Lilly International Corporation, marketing adviser for Latin America for Elanco and director of agricultural marketing for Lilly International in Florence, Italy. In 1983 he became general manager of the Lilly affiliate in Argentina, and he was named president and general manager of the Brazilian Affiliate in 1985. He became executive director of engineering in 1988 and was named area vice president for Europe in 1992. Postlethwait retired from Lilly in 1999 as President of the Neuroscience Product Group.
Among Mr. Postlethwait`s community activities, he has served on the board of directors of the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention, on the board of directors of the Indiana Red Cross, and as a member of NAMI-Indiana. He also served on the President's New Freedom Commission on Mental Health from 2002 to 2003. He has been a longtime member of the Friends of Herron and has been a generous supporter of Herron's programs.
In addition to his undergraduate degree from Purdue, Postlethwait earned an MBA from Butler University in 1974 and completed the Advanced Management Program at Harvard University in 1988.
