About Indiana Professional Chapter of the Society of Professional Journalists

The Indiana Professional Chapter of the Society of Professional Journalists works to promote and protect First Amendment freedoms, offers scholarships, sponsors the annual “Best of Indiana” journalism contest and conducts professional development programs.

The Indiana SPJ chapter has awarded thousands of dollars in scholarships to IUPUI journalism students. The local SPJ chapter has also provided state, regional, and national recognition for student journalists working on the award winning campus newspaper at IUPUI – The Sagamore. The organization also established the $10,000 Bettie Cadou Scholarship Fund, which provides an annual scholarship to a journalism major on the IUPUI campus.
