About Peter J. George

Peter George, a South Bend native, is a restaurateur and real estate agent in Indianapolis. During his career, he opened three fine dining restaurants in Indianapolis, including Chops and Peter's. George's success as a restaurant owner stemmed his willingness to innovate in his restaurants, which led him to focusing on "farm-to-table" dinners before they became widely popular. George exited the restaurant business in 2003 to become a full-time real estate agent. In 2015, however, he and business partner Thomas Main opened a new 72-seat vegetarian-friendly restaurant called Tinker Street.

George established the Peter George Scholarship at the IUPUI School of Physical Education and Tourism Management. The award is for incoming students interested in the food service industry.
