Jack F. Holmes was born on Valentine's day, 1920. He earned his B.S. in economics of finance from IU in 1941, going on to receive an M.B.A. from Harvard in 1943. When war broke out, Holmes enlisted. He moved up the ranks quickly during the war effort, earning the title of Captain and serving in a special operations team under Eisenhower. He received an honorable discharge in 1946 as a decorated veteran.
Holmes reentered civilian life as a corporate business systems statistical analyst at Creole Petroleum Corporation, which later became Exxon. He soon became a comptroller in the company. Desiring to pursue his education further, he went back to IU to earn a J.D., graduating in 1971.
Upon graduating from law school, Holmes moved to Florida, where he passed the bar exam. He retired from law in 2006. He was later made a Protem Judge of the Marion Superior Court at age 88. Throughout his life, he maintained multiple careers and initiated many business ventures. In addition to his business ventures, he maintained a 50-year long career with Northwestern Mutual Life Insurance as an insurance broker.
