About Charlotte A. Griffin

Charlotte Ann Griffin earned her B.A. in Mathematics in 1963 from Indiana University in Bloomington. While a student, she was active with the Alpha Gamma Delta Sorority and a member of the Singing Hoosiers. Griffin spent 29 years working with IBM which included two years with IBM Germany, where she served as main technical support for the European Space Research Organization. For her dedication to the company, she received the IBM Outstanding Contribution Award. In 1993 she moved to working for Washington Systems Consulting, Inc., as a partner and consultant. She remained in that position until she retired in 2006.

Griffin is the former secretary of the James and Charlotte Griffin Foundation, named after her late husband, James “Jim” Griffin, and herself. She is currently a member of the Monroe County Master Gardeners Association and Treasurer for the Bloomington Watercolor Society.

Griffin is a supporter of the College of Arts and Sciences in Bloomington. Alongside her late husband, Jim, they established the William H. Boucher Professorship in Mathematics. This professorship was named after Jim’s high school math teacher, who instilled in Jim a lifelong interest in mathematics. In 2008, Charlotte and Jim established another professorship in the Department of Mathematics, this time under Charlotte’s name. In 2009, the couple created the Griffin Academic Excellence Endowment which provides general support to the Department of Mathematics and the College of Arts and Sciences. The Griffin’s are also supporters of the Eskenazi Museum of Art and made a gift in 2007 to the museum’s general conservation fund.
