Julie Auger is a visiting associate professor in the Department of French and Italian in the College of Arts and Sciences at IU. She joined IU’s faculty in 1993. During her tenure at IU, she served as an associate professor of French and linguistics and the director of graduate studies in French linguistics. In January 2019, Auger returned home to her native of Quebec, Canada to join the faculty at the University of Montreal as an associate professor in the Department of Linguistics and Translation. She received her M.A. from the Université Laval in Quebec in 1988 and her Ph.D. from the University of Pennsylvania in 1994. Auger’s research focus is in sociolinguistics with two main areas of interest: French in Quebec and Picard. Auger received a Fulbright Award in 2014 to study in France and also received the IU Trustees Teaching Award in 2001.
