About Tom Rush

Thomas D. Rush received both his B.S. in Business and his M.B.A. from the IU Bloomington School of Business in 1962 and 1963 respectively. While a student, he was an IU Student Foundation steering committee member, involved with the ROTC program, and was president of Sigma Alpha Epsilon. Rush was founder and president of Jonathan Homes in Indianapolis, the biggest homebuilder in the state for several years. He stayed in that role until 1991, when he became president of Trinity Homes. After seven years of growing the company, Rush left after a joint venture was struck between Trinity Homes and Crossmann Communities, Inc. Rush is founder and managing partner of Rush Investments. Rush previously served as chairman of the Indianapolis Colts Advisory Council and on the boards of artistic media, junior achievement, as well as on the advisory board for Union Planters Bank. He also has served on Mayor Goldsmith’s SELTIC committee. Ernst & Young awarded Rush with the 1996 Entrepreneur of the Year Award. Rush has previously served as vice chairman for the IU Alumni Association and is an emeritus director of the IU Foundation. Rush’s generosity has touched the IU Simon Cancer Center, IU Alumni Association, Kelley School of Business, and IU Athletics among other designations. In gratitude for his unwavering support and service to the university, the IU Foundation presented Rush the Presidents Circle Laurel Pin.
