About Robin Vealey

A member of the faculty at Miami University since 1984, Dr. Vealey has served as Chair as well as Coordinator of Graduate Studies in the Department of Kinesiology and Health. Her teaching, research, and service are focused within the social psychology of sport. She teaches courses in sport psychology, coaching effectiveness, and children in sport, and has received numerous teaching awards including the Outstanding Teacher/Advisor Award from the School of Education and Allied Professions, the Graduate Student Mentorship Award from the Miami Graduate School, and multiple university Effective Educator awards. Dr. Vealey works extensively with graduate students in sport psychology, co-authoring multiple scholarly publications and presentations, and supervising theses.

Dr. Vealey has authored three books: Best Practice in Youth Sport (2015), Coaching for the Inner Edge (2005) and Competitive Anxiety in Sport (1990). In addition, has published over 40 articles and book chapters in sport psychology and made over 200 scholarly and applied presentations to regional, national, and international audiences, including multiple invited international keynote presentations. She is a Fellow in the National Academy of Kinesiology, the Association for Applied Sport Psychology (AASP), and the Research Consortium of the American Alliance for Health, Physical Education, Recreation, and Dance. In 1995, she received the Distinguished Scholar Award from the Australian Psychological Society. Dr. Vealey served as Editor of the international refereed journal The Sport Psychologist for a five-year term, and is Past - President of AASP. She currently is on the editorial boards of the International Journal of Sport and Exercise Psychology and the International Journal of Sport Sciences. She has also served on the editorial boards of the Journal of Sport & Exercise Psychology, The Sport Psychologist, the Journal of Applied Sport Psychology, and the Journal of Sport Behavior.

Dr. Vealey has worked as a sport psychology consultant for organizations including the U.S. Ski Team and U.S. Field Hockey, and currently consults with elite athletes, Miami University athletes and teams, and local high school athletes. She is listed in Miami University athletes and teams, and local high school athletes. She is listed in the U.S. Olympic Committee Sport Psychology Registry, and is a Certified Consultant in sport psychology as recognized by AASP.
