About Mark Geraci

Mark Geraci was born and raised in Cincinnati, OH. He completed his undergraduate training at the University of Colorado, Boulder. Following graduation from the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, he completed training in Internal Medicine at the Massachusetts General Hospital. After training in Pulmonary Diseases and Critical Care Medicine at the University of Colorado he remained as faculty, eventually to Head the Pulmonary Division. He is currently the John B. Hickam Professor and Chair of Medicine at Indiana University.

He is a tremendous contributor to medical education, and has served as President of the Association of Specialty Professors for the Alliance of Academic Internal Medicine, and a member of their Education Committee.

His research interests center on the role of eicosanoids in the biology of pulmonary vascular disease and lung cancer. These endeavors include the use of animal models of lung cancer, and the application of genomics. He is the recipient of the NHLBI R24 for Genomics in Pulmonary Hypertension Consortium Award. He is an awardee of the jointly (NHLBI and NCI) funded "Common Pathogenetic Mechanisms of Lung Cancer and COPD", which establishes a new National Consortium investigating early carcinogenesis.

His clinical interests are lung cancer, pulmonary vascular diseases, and critical care.
