Gerry was an administrator for Indiana University Kokomo since 1985, served as the Director of University Division for 22 years, then in 2009 she was appointed Assistant Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs for a newly created office of Student Success and Advising. This role encompassed advising, the testing center, new student orientation, convocation, student success center, and other services that promote student success on campus. In 1994, she was appointed the campus Affirmative Action Officer and has served the campus in that capacity to the present time. Gerry has served on the Chancellor's Cabinet, Dean's Council, Administrative Council, and the Campus Diversity Committee.
In her early career Gerry worked as an elementary school teacher for two years, and then at Fayetteville State University, directing their counseling center in the Division of General Studies.
Stroman has volunteered for many service groups in the Kokomo community; she was a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc., and a charter member of the Kokomo chapter of Omicron Phi Omega, a Greek service sorority which she has been a member of for over 40 years.
Stroman passed away in 2021.
