About John M. Wo

Dr. John Wo is the Director of the GI Motility and Neurogastroenterology Unit in the Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology and a Tenured Professor of Medicine at Indiana University School of Medicine. He is also the Director of the GI Motility Diagnostic Laboratory at the Indiana University Hospital. He graduated with high honors in chemical engineering from University of Virginia. He then completed the MD program at Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, Virginia. After completing an internal medicine residency at Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia, Dr. Wo did a fellowship in adult gastroenterology at Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia.

Dr. Wo also completed a research fellow in esophageal motility at Emory University. He was the Director of the Motility for 15 years and a Tenured Professor of Medicine at University of Louisville, before coming to Indiana University in 2012. He has been the Associate Editor of the Diseases of the Esophagus since 2006 and served as a frequent research abstract reviewer for the Neurogastroenterology Section at the American Gastroenterological Association.
