Don Padgett won golf letters in 1969, 1970 and 1971. He earned national recognition after being named second team All-American in 1969 and receiving honorable mention All-American honors in 1970. Padgett placed first at the Big Ten Championship in 1969 and qualified for the 1969 NCAA Tournament. In 1970, Padgett helped the Hoosiers' team claim the Big Ten title and went on to tie for 28th individually at the NCAAs. After winning the Big Ten Individual Championship, Padgett was an All-Big Ten selection in 1969. He led the team in scoring average in 1968-69 and was second on the team in 1969-70. Post-collegiately, Don played in the PGA tour for a short time before becoming the Director of Golf at Firestone County Club, and later the President of Pinehurst Resorts. Padgett was inducted into the Indiana Golf Hall of Fame in 1989.
