About Ligaya McGovern

Dr. McGovern's research interest is on globalization and women/gender, with a focus on Third World women. Published books include, Filipino Peasant Women: Exploitation and Resistance, (University of Pennsylvania Press), and Globalization and Third World Women: Exploitation, Coping, and Resistance, (Ashgate Publishing Co.) She has conducted research on Philippine labor export, with a focus on Filipino migrant domestic workers, and has conducted fieldwork in Taiwan, Hong Kong, Vancouver, Rome, Chicago, and the Philippines.
