Lemons has been in the field of international education for more than 20 years. She began as a teacher of English as a second language after completing her bachelor's degree, and lived in Asia for several years pursuing this career until she decided to move back to the States.
As Director of International Student Services at IU, Lemons was selected to join the October 2010 EducationUSA Reconnect-Plus delegation to Nigeria and South Africa. During her travels, she took part in institutional visits, and offered educational workshops related to study in the United States. The conference was an opportunity for Lemons and IUPUI to showcase its continued interest in enrolling students from across Africa. IUPUI enrolls more African students than any other institution in Indiana. Lemons and her department not only provide immigration advising, but they also take great pride in offering a holistic support for the students.
Lemons also received a nomination from undergraduate freshmen to the IUPUI 21 Club. 21 Club recognizes the efforts of individuals who have had a positive impact on new students.
