Dr. Tara Kingsley is an Assistant Professor of Literacy in Indiana University - Kokomo's School of Education. She received her undergraduate degree in elementary education from Purdue University in 2001 and became a school teacher at Hamilton Southeastern Schools in Fishers, IN soon after. After several years, she enrolled as a graduate student at Ball State University, completing a master's in elementary education and reading and a Ph.D. in elementary education, technology, reading, and research. From 2011 until 2012, she was an Assistant Professor at Ball State, when she joined Indiana University's faculty in her current role.
Dr. Kingsley's research primarily focuses on enhancing the classroom experience for students through the use of technology and gamification of knowledge. She has delivered guest lectures, presentations, and teaching demonstrations across Indiana and in multiple states. Her research has also been published in numerous domestic and international journals. For her teaching, she has received numerous recognitions from Indiana University. These have included awards from FACET, the Trustees Teaching Award, and the Teaching with Canvas Pioneer Award. Dr. Kingsley has also served as a consultant for several schools and districts in Indiana.
