About Nasser Hanna

Dr. Nassa Hanna earned his M.D. from the University of Missouri, Columbia Medica School. He completed an internship and residency at the University of Iowa and a fellowship at the Indiana University School of Medicine (IUSM). Since officially joining the IUSM faculty as an assistant professor of medicine in 2001, Hanna has held numerous titles and appointments at IUSM. In 2018, he was named the Tom and Julie Wood Family Foundation Professor of Lung Cancer.

Hanna’s research focuses on thoracic oncology, specifically the study and management of all forms of lunch cancer. His clinical interests include lung cancer and esophageal cancer. He has authored several papers and articles related to these topics and more that have appeared in premier medical journals, including Annals of Oncology: Official Journal of the European Society for Medical Oncology.

Throughout his clinical, research, and teaching career, Hanna has been honored with numerous awards and honors. To name a few, he received the Inspirational Educator Award from IU, and he was the recipient of the Charles A. Koller, MD, Memorial Lectureship from the MD Anderson Cancer Center / Baylor College of Medicine Hematology and Medical Oncology Board Review.
