Leslie Hodder earned her B.B.A. and M.B.A. from the Anderson School of Management at the University of New Mexico in 1984 and 1988, respectively. Upon completion, she continued her education at the Graduate School of Business at the University of Texas at Austin where she earned her Ph.D. in 2001. She joined the Indiana University (IU) Kelley School of Business faculty in 2003 as an assistant professor. She was promoted to associate professor in 2008 and full professor in 2016. She has since held the titles Dean’s Research Professor (2016), Conrad Prebys Professor (2018), and David Thompson Chair (2022).
Prior to joining the IU faculty, Hodder held teaching positions at the University of Texas and Stanford University. Her areas of expertise include risk measurement and disclosure, measurement issues in accounting, options and other financial instruments, organizational forms, and financial institutions. She has authored several articles and papers related to these topics and more that have been published in premier business journals, including The Accounting Review, Foundations and Trends in Accounting, and Contemporary Accounting Research.
Throughout her robust teaching career, Hodder has been recognized with a variety of honors and awards. To name a few, she was selected as a finalist for IU’s Trustees’ Teaching Award in 2016 and 2015, the recipient of the Alpha Kappa Psi Undergraduate Teaching Excellence Award in 2015, and was selected as Beta Alpha Psi’s Distinguished Speaker at their annual banquet in 2015.
