Gregory C. Fisher earned his Bachelor of Accounting from the University of KwaZulu Natal in 1997, Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Johannesburg, and M.B.A. from the University of Pretoria in 2004. He later continued his education at the University of Washington where he earned his Ph.D. in technology entrepreneurship program, management, and organizational department in 2012. Since joining the Indiana University (IU) Kelley School of Business faculty in 2012 as an assistant professor in the Department of Management and Entrepreneurship, Fisher has held numerous appointments and titles at the university. In 2018, he was named the Larry and Barbara Sharpf Professor.
Fisher’s areas of expertise include entrepreneurship, business strategy, corporate entrepreneurship, and turnaround management. He has authored several articles and papers related to these topics and more that have appeared in premier business journals, including the Journal of Management, Entrepreneurship Theory and Practice, and Strategic Organization.
Throughout his robust teaching career, Fisher has been recognized with a variety of honors and awards. He was the recipient of the Helena Yli-Renko Research Impact Award from the Greif Center for Entrepreneurial Studies at the University of Southern California in 2022, an award which recognizes an entrepreneurship paper that appeared in the top-tier management and entrepreneurship journals six years ago and received the highest citations in the five years following publication. He was also the recipient of the M.B.A. Teaching Excellence Award from the Kelley School of Business in 2021.
