Dr. Patrick Sullivan has served at the IU School of Social Work since 1993. Prior to this time, he taught at Missouri State University. During his tenure at IUPUI he has also served as the Director of the Indiana Division of Mental Health and Addiction from 1994-1998. Dr. Sullivan has over 70 professional publications in the areas of mental health, addiction, and philosophical frameworks for practice and policy. Dr. Sullivan earned his Ph.D. at the University of Kansas and is nationally known for his work in case management and the strengths perspective. He is active in the CSWE Recovery to Practice and Integrated Behavioral Health Care initiatives. His awards include, Distinguished Hoosier by Governor Frank O'Bannon, Sagamore of the Wabash from Governor Joe Kernan. He has also won the IUPUI Glenn Irwin Award for Service, The University of Kansas School of Social Welfare Outstanding Alumni Award, The Public Policy Leadership Award for Cummins Mental Health Center, the Distinguished Service Award from the Hamilton Center Inc., the Thelma Cummins Vision Award for Cummins Mental Health Center, the Southwest Missouri State University Foundation Award for Outstanding Scholarship, and multiple awards for teaching.
