Jay-Terrence Lennon is a graduate of the SUNY College of Environmental Science and Forestry, the University of Kansas, and Dartmouth College. After serving as a postdoctoral fellow at Brown University, he held faculty positions at Michigan State University before coming to Indiana University in 2012. Dr. Lennon studies the ecology and evolution of microbial communities. He is interested in the factors that generate and maintain microbial biodiversity. In turn, he aims to understand the implications of microbial diversity for ecosystem functioning making use of a variety of different research methods. These include molecular biology, simulation modeling, laboratory experiments, field surveys, and whole ecosystem manipulations in a wide range of habitats. He has been the recipient of numerous grants, including from the National Science Foundation and Department of Defense.
