About Jim E. Hunter

The IU School of Optometry is proud to honor Dr. Jim and Linda Hunter with the 2022 Spirit of Philanthropy Award. Jim earned his Bachelor of Science and Doctor of Optometry degrees from the IU School of Optometry in 1974 and 1976, respectively. Linda received her Master of Science in Education from IU Bloomington in 1978. Established in 2020 through their generous gifts, The Dr. James E. and Linda K. Hunter Laser and Surgical Care Clinic enhances the ability of IU School of Optometry faculty to teach ophthalmic laser and minor surgical procedures and to provide related patient care services to Atwater Eye Care Center patients. “Jim Hunter has always been at the cutting-edge of optometric practice. This gift from Jim and Linda plants a seed that will grow and blossom in support of education, advancing the profession, and serving the eye-health needs of patients,” says IUSO Dean Joseph Bonanno.
