Flora Charlotte (Anderson) Haas was a botany professor, administrator, and researcher, Born June 27, 1885 in Bay Ridge, Florida, Haas attended grade school in Indianapolis and then earned her B.A., M.A., and Ph.D. all from Indiana University. She taught at Wellesley College, IU, Arkansas State Teachers College where she was head of the botany department, and Union University where she was also head of the botany department. While at Arkansas, Haas collected native flora which she identified and mounted to create an herbarium presented to Arkansas State Teachers College when she retired. Haas joined the Indiana Academy of Science in 1914, having just received her master's degree from IU, and she became a fellow of the society in 1923. She served as assistant secretary in 1923 and secretary in 1924 and 1925. Some of her research papers included studies of stipules in Acer nigrum, sporogenous tissue of Porella, anomaly in the dandelion, and Marlyneaceae. Haas died December 10, 1984.
