- IU Indianapolis Spirit of Philanthropy Award - 2019
Richard Woltman’s association with Indiana University spans over six decades, beginning when he enrolled in the School of Business (now Kelley School of Business) and earned a BS in general management in 1952. Throughout the years, Richard has supported several areas of Indiana University, including the Eskenazi Museum of Art, the Kelley School of Business, and the School of Nursing.
The passing of Richard’s wife, Kaye, inspired the Woltman family to establish a three-part initiative to help educate families and caregivers about end-of-life and palliative issues: the Kaye Woltman Endowed Visiting Lectureship in Health Communication, the Woltman Family Communication Program, and the Richard and Kaye Woltman Endowed Fellowship in Health Communication. According to Richard, the family wanted to do “something that would help others who may find themselves in similar situations.”
