About Dawn Whitehead

Dawn Whitehead received a B.A. in History and Afro-American Studies, an M.S. in International and Comparative Education, and a Ph.D. in Education Policy Studies with a concentration in African Studies and a minor in International and Comparative Education. All of Whitehead's degrees are from Indiana University Bloomington.

Whitehead is vice president in the Office of Global Citizenship for Campus, Community and Careers at the Association of American Colleges and Universities (AAC&U). She is additionally the program director of AAC&U's annual meeting. Whitehead's work primarily centers on integrative global learning, particularly providing students with a variety of global learning exposure through thematic local and international experiences. She also spearheads curricular transformation projects across general education, integrating high-impact practices providing students with high-quality learning through collaboration with other AAC&U offices. She has written articles and presented nationally and internationally on global learning and global service learning, and facilitated grant-funded projects to advance student success through curricular change. Prior leadership experience includes serving as director of Curriculum Internationalization, as well as teaching, in the global and international studies program at Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis.

Whitehead is an exceptional leader in the internationalization of educational curriculum, and at the heart of her work has always been the concept of inclusive excellence to ensure all students have access to high-quality global learning experiences. In 2019, White was honored with Indiana University's Bicentennial Medal, in recognition of her distinguished contributions and longstanding support of education and the university.
