Joe Wert is the professor of political science and president of Indiana University Southeast faculty senate. Wert earned a Bachelor of Science and Master of Arts from Ball State University; MBA from the University of Miami (FL); and Ph.D. from the University of Cincinnati. Wert's research focuses on the institution of the presidency and public opion on the American presidency. A published author, Wert has contributed several entries in the Encyclopedia of the American Presidency, provided a chapter in a book on Indiana governors, and published his book A Study of Bill Clinton's Public Approval Ratings in 2003.
Wert received the IU Bicentennial Medal in August 2019 in recognition of his distinguished service as president of Indiana University Southeast faculty senate and co-chair of the Indiana University Faculty Council.
