About John Sejdinaj

John Sejdinaj served as the vice president and CFO of Indiana University. Sejdinaj earned his bachelor's degree from the University of Notre Dame and master's degree from DePaul University. Sejdinaj worked in investment banking at First National Bank of Chicago, serving as the vice president for public banking from 1985 to 1994. In 1994, Sejdinaj returned to the University of Notre Dame as the director of fixed income and cash management (1994-1996); director of budgeting & planning (1996-1999); assistant vice president for finance, director of budgeting and planning (1999-2002), and vice president for finance (2003-2016). He joined the IU administration as vice president in 2016.

During Sejdinaj's time at IU he led the university in vastly simplifying the financial planning process and has been instrumental in controlling costs and steering the university, campuses, and schools to better cost controls. He has lead efforts to refresh IU's core systems for financial, travel, and procurement processes. Sejdinaj was named the 2019 Indianapolis Business Journal's CFO of the Year - NFP/Government.

Sejdinaj received the IU Bicentennial Medal in August 2019 in recognition of his distinguished service as the vice president and CFO of Indiana University and member of the president's executive cabinet.
