John Watson is an associate professor of biology, president of the IUPUI faculty senate, and co-chair of the Indiana University Faculty Council. Watson earned his bachelor's degree from Butler University and Ph.D. from Indiana University Bloomington. A plant biologist, Watson studies a set of protein kinases and their genes from the garden pea, soybean, Arabidopsis in order to understand their role in seedling development.
Watson received the IU Bicentennial Medal in August 2019 in recognition of his distinguished service as president of the IUPUI faculty senate and co-chair of the Indiana University Faculty Council.
