Shiaofen Fang is a professor of Computer and Information Science in the School of Science at IUPUI. Fang earned a B.S. in mathematics and M.S. in applied mathematics from Zhejiang University, and a Ph.D. in computer science from the University of Utah. His primary research interests are in visualization, biomedical imaging, computer graphics, and geometric modeling. His focus is around a common theme of efficient and effective visualization of scientific data, and more recently in medical image analysis and visual analytics.
Fang received the IU Bicentennial Medal in August 2019 in recognition of his distinguished service as interim dean of the School of Science at IUPUI.
