About Tambra Jackson

Tambra Jackson is the interim dean of the School of Education and associate professor of Education in the Urban Teacher Education program at IUPUI. Jackson earned her B.S. in elementary education from Miami University, Oxford, OH., M.Ed. in curriculum and instruction from Indiana Wesleyan University, and Ph.D. in curriculum, teaching and education policy from Michigan State University. Jackson's research interests including teaching learning and development across the professional continuum specifically focusing on preparing teachers for diversity, social justice education, culturally responsive pedagogy, urban education, and the experiences of Black women faculty.

Jackson is the author or co-author of book chapters and scholarly articles and is an active member of the American Educational Research Association Divisions G (Social Context of Education), K (Teaching and Teacher Education), and the SIG-Research Focus on Black Education.

Jackson received the IU Bicentennial Medal in August 2019 in recognition of her distinguished service as Interim Dean of the School of Education at IUPUI.
