Stephen Borchers received a B.A. in communication, marketing and economics from Ohio State University. Borchers has decades of experience in fundraising and not-for-profit management. He recently retired as the executive director for the Wayne County Foundation after serving for fifteen years. Under his leadership, the foundation developed its popular Challenge Match initiative, which helped generate more than $8 million for Wayne County charitable organizations over the last eight years. He additionally helped grow the Foundation's assets under management to more than $40 million. Prior experience includes working as the COO (chief operating officer) for Indiana Humanities Council. Borchers also served at American City Bureau, Inc. for over two decades, culminating in the position of executive vice president and treasurer. In 2019, Borchers received Indiana University’s Bicentennial Medal, in recognition of his distinguished contributions and years of service.
