Randall Morgan received a B.A. in chemistry from Grinnell College and an M.D. from Howard University College of Medicine. He later earned an M.B.A. from the University of South Florida. He also completed an internship and orthopedic surgery residency at Northwestern University, and a fellowship in pediatric orthopedics at the Children’s Hospital of Cincinnati. Morgan has served as assistant professor of orthopedic surgery at Indiana University, and remains connected to the university in many ways.
Morgan serves as clinical assistant professor of orthopedic surgery at Florida State School of Medicine and clinical assistant professor of community medicine at the University of Connecticut Health Center. He continues to research healthcare and musculoskeletal disparities at the health center as well. Morgan is a diplomat of the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery, a fellow of the American College of Surgeons, and certified by the American Board of Managed Care Medicine.
Well recognized as a leader in his profession, Morgan served as president of the National Medical Association, and president of the Indiana Orthopedic Society. He is a founding member of the J. Robert Gladden Orthopedic Society, founded the Orthopedic Centers of Northwest Indiana, and served as their president as well. Morgan received an honorary Doctor of Science from Grinnell College, and was inducted into Alpha Omega Alpha honorary medical society at Howard University. He also serves as a life member of the Grinnell College Board of Trustees as well as the Indiana University Foundation Board of Directors. In 2019, Morgan received IU’s Bicentennial Medal, in recognition of his distinguished contributions and longstanding support of the university.
