Frank D. Otte is an IU alumnus and former student trustee for the IU Board of Trustees. Otte earned a BS in environmental science in 1993 and a law degree in 1997 from the IU School of Law – Bloomington (later renamed the Maurer School of Law). Otte was appointed by Governor Evan Baye in 1995 to serve as the eleventh student trustee on the IU Board of Trustees.
During his undergraduate career Otte was involved in student leadership, holding memberships with Phi Gamma Delta, Off-Campus Student Union, the Student Alumni Council, and the Student Athletic Board. In addition to his student positions and serving on the Board of Trustees, Otte has served on the IU Alumni Association CEO search committee, and the IUAA’s Executive Council, was a member and treasurer for the IUAA, member of the Varsity Club, and the Wells House Society.
After completion of his law degree, Otte entered private practice with McHale, Cook & Welch before starting a solo practice in 2000. Since 2004, he has worked in Indianapolis with the law firm Clark, Quinn, Moses, Scott & Grahn, eventually becoming partner. Otte is a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Church in Indianapolis and is active in the Indianapolis-based Boy Scout Troop 174, serving as scoutmaster since 2008.
Otte received the IU Bicentennial Medal in September 2019 in recognition of his distinguished service as the eleventh student trustee on the IU Board of Trustees.
