Professor Robert E. Pollock received a Ph.D. in 1962 from Princeton University. His research areas included non-neutral plasmas, storage ring and cyclotron design, and nuclear reactions at intermediate energies. He was an N.R.C. Postdoctoral Overseas Fellow at Atomic Energy Research Establishment (AERE) in Harwell, England (1963-64).
He joined the IU faculty in 1970 and was awarded Distinguished Professor in 1984. He also served as the director of the Indiana University Cyclotron Facility (1972-1979).
Pollock was a Fellow of the American Physical Society, received an Alexander von Humboldt Senior U.S. Scientist Award (1985), and was the co-recipient of American Physical Society Bonner Prize (1992).
