- Bicentennial Medal - 2019
Kathy Shuel was a 4.0 student while earning her degree from Ohio State University. A longstanding supporter of Indiana University, and IU athletics, Shuel’s husband Steve and their two sons are IU graduates. For almost a decade, Shuel and her husband, Steve Shuel, have hosted a dinner celebrating IU student athletes who earned perfect 4.0 grade point averages. Held twice annually, the celebratory event recognizing the exemplary academic accomplishments of the students is only possible due to Shuel’s generosity.
Both Shuel and her husband are members of IU’s prestigious recognition society, the President’s Circle, and in 2019, Shuel was awarded IU’s Bicentennial Medal. Awarded to individuals who have broadened the reach of Indiana University around the state, nation, and world, the medal recognizes Shuel’s distinguished contributions and support of the university.
