About Ira T. Neal

Ira T. Neal received a B.S. from the University of Evansville, an M.S. from Indiana University, and an Ed.D. from Nova Southwestern University.

Neal has over two decades of experience with the Evansville Vanderburgh School Corporation (EVSC), including leadership roles as an integration advisory specialist, and director of federal projects. Upon his retirement, Neal was managing grant funds approaching 4 million dollars annually. Neal is actively involved in working in race relations, and is credited with establishing the EVSC African American Choral Ensemble and the African American Academy of Black History.

Neal's work was honored with two community-wide appreciation celebrations in 1988 and 2010. Out of these initiatives, the Ira T. Neal Community Volunteer Development Scholarship Fund, New Hope Music Academy, EVSC Elementary African American Chorale Ensemble, and the USI Multicultural Center were formed. Neal was inducted into the EVSC Hall of Fame in 2012. Neal served as a Trustee at Vincennes University, a member of the IU Medical Center advisory Committee and corporate scholarship application committees, and serves on the USI Foundation Board of Directors. In 2019, Neal was awarded Indiana University's Bicentennial Medal, in recognition of his distinguished service and support to the Evansville community.
