Bicentennial Medal - 2020

About David Dimmett

David Dimmett received three degrees from Indiana University; a B.A., M.S., and Ed.D, in the fields of Educational Leadership and Policy Studies, Curriculum and Instruction, and English. He also earned an M.B.O.E. from the Fishers College of Business at Ohio State University. Dimmett's relationship with Indiana University has extended long past his time as a student. He has served as a member, secretary, vice president and president of IU's School of Education Alumni Association and is currently an IUAA executive council member.

As Senior Vice President and Chief Engagement Officer of Project Lead The Way (PLTW), Dimmett has been instrumental in leading innovation for student achievement. He facilitated the district's curriculum and instruction while developing strategic partnerships. He implemented numerous cutting-edge school models, including Early College High School and New Tech Institute using the Project Lead The Way Engineering program. Dimmett held a variety of high leadership positions at PLTW prior to his current role. Before joining the organization, Dimmett rose to the level of Chief Academic Officer with the Evansville-Vanderburgh School Corporation.

Dimmett is actively involved in volunteering and serves on numerous boards for organizations including the Indiana Works Council, the Indy Chamber's Education Workforce Committee, and the Ohio State University Fisher College of Business. In 2019, Dimmett received Indiana University's Bicentennial Medal in recognition of his distinguished contributions and longstanding support of the university.
