Jann Fujimoto received a B.A. in Spanish with a minor in linguistics from Indiana University Bloomington, and an M.S. in communication disorders from the University of Texas at Dallas – Richardson. Fujimoto remained connected to IU after her time as a student; she served as an executive council member for the alumni association, and was a past president of IU’s Marching Hundred Alumni Board.
Fujimoto is a certified speech-language pathologist and the owner of SpeechWorks LLC in Oconomowoc, Wisconsin. Helping children become competent and confident communicators, Fujimoto has almost two decades of experiences, and has worked in birth-to three programs, pre-schools, schools, hospitals, skilled nursing facilities, and outpatient clinics. In 2011, Fujimoto was selected to participate in the ASHA Leadership Development Program Health Care, a year-long program to develop leadership skills and encourage service back to the profession. She also volunteers as a mentor for graduate and undergraduate students with ASHA’s Students to Empowered Professional program.
Fujimoto received the ASHA Award for Continuing Education in 2010, 2013 and 2016 to recognize her commitment to furthering her professional education. In 2019, Fujimoto was awarded Indiana University’s Bicentennial Medal, in recognition of her distinguished contributions and service. she also received that year, the IUAA Volunteer Leadership Award.
