About Adam Karcz

Adam Karcz graduated from Indiana University Bloomington with an M.P.H. in Behavioral, Social and Community Health in 2009. He taught as an associate instructor while finishing his degree, and has since remained connected with the university in various ways. Karcz served previously as vice president of IU's Latino Alumni Association, and is currently serving as secretary of the association.

An Infection Prevention and Epidemiology professional with over a decade of experience in system infection prevention, Karcz has more than sixteen years of healthcare experience. Currently the director of infection prevention at Riley Hospital for Children at Indiana University Health, his reputation for solid, evidence based research and practice is recognized across the field of infection prevention. Karcz's efforts while serving in a system-level role, with a remarkable record, have improved health outcomes in countless other fields, including: epidemiology, quality and safety, healthcare consulting, industrial hygiene, hospital construction, infectious disease, health behavior theory, population health, and infection prevention.

In 2019, Karcz was honored with Indiana University's Bicentennial Medal. This medal is presented to individuals whose distinctive service in support of the university's mission is significant. Karcz received this medal in recognition of his distinguished contributions and long-standing support of the university.
