Gary Kovener is co-owner of Kovener's Korner, an ice-cream shop in Seymour, Indiana, that is famous for its chocolate malt soft serve, and has been in business for more than seven decades.
During his time at Indiana University, Kovener was actively involved while serving as a student Aeon. As an alum, Kovener was president of the Society of Aeons, the Aeons' Alumni group. In the College of Arts and Sciences at Indiana University, there is a teaching fellowship named after Gary Kovener and his wife Sharon. As donors, the Koveners established this fellowship designed to give dedicated teachers and students a chance to engage on an array of pedagogical issues and practices. In 2019, Kovener received the university's Bicentennial Medal, in recognition of his distinguished contributions and support of the university.
