Virgil Scudder received a B.A. in telecommunications and music history from Indiana University. He also studied language study at the University of Miami, and theatre history at Montclair State University. Scudder’s involment with IU has continued over the years; he has served on the College of Arts and Sciences Executive Dean’s Advisory Board for twenty years now.
Scudder is president of Virgil Scudder and Associates. As a communication coach, he specializes in executive communication including preparing top level executives for speeches, presentations, investor meetings, crisis handling, and media appearances. Previous experience includes serving as senior vice president of Hill & Knowlton, specifically MediaCom, the company's media training unit. He was also senior vice president at Carl Byoir & Associates. Scudder also has extensive experience as a news director, editor, reporter and on-air personality, with NBC, WINS and WCTC Radio.
In 2019, Scudder was awarded Indiana University’s Bicentennial Medal, in recognition of his distinguished contributions and longstanding support of the university.
