Terry Anker received a B.A. in speech communication and a J.D., from Indiana University and IU’s Maurer School of Law. A native of White county, Indiana, Anker was an involved student while at IU, earning a place on the Dean’s Honor list, serving as student body president, president of the student senate, vice president of the Interfraternity Council, and vice president of Alumni Relations, Sigma Phi Epsilon. He currently serves as chair of IU’s College of Arts and Sciences Alumni board.
Anker is the owner, CEO and chairman of The Anker Consulting Group, Inc., where he serves in several areas of retail, wholesale distribution and service industries as an advisor and owner. He also instructs within the public sector as well. He additionally guides small businesses on formation and start-up matters and the capital acquisition from public and private sources. Anker is also a partner at Current Publishing. Numerous businesses and organizations invite Anker as a regular guest lecturer on entrepreneurship and executive leadership, due to his success and expertise.
Active in philanthropy and charitable causes, Anker served on the board for Conner Prairie Interactive History Park, as past president for Indiana Humanities, and as curriculum dean of the Hamilton County Leadership Academy Class of 2013-14. Anker served as the president of Legacy Fund, the Community Foundation of Hamilton County, Indiana and as an officer in the Central Indiana Community Foundation. He is a member of the board of directors for Liberty Fund, Inc. and the Friends of the Austrian Economics Center, and is chair of the board of trustees for Ivy Tech Community College. He has previously held leadership positions for Riley Hospital for Children, the Private Industry Council of Indiana and Prevent Blindness Indiana. Anker is also a member of several service and private affiliations including The Mont Pelerin Society, and the Association of Private Enterprise Education. In 2019, Anker was honored with Indiana University’s Bicentennial Medal, in recognition of his distinguished contributions and service.
