Mary Susan Buhner received a B.A. in speech communication from Indiana University Bloomington. She is a former president of the IU alumni chapter in Indianapolis, a current member of IU’s College Alumni Board and a proud member of a hugely Hoosier family through multiple generations; the Buhner family tree at IU goes back four generations. Buhner's side, the Hershbergers, has three generations that have earned degrees in Bloomington with both families residing in the Indianapolis area.
The author of “Mommy Magic: Tricks for Staying Sane in the Midst of Insanity”, Buhner is the host of WXIN’s Fox 59’s “Mommy Magic” segment. She is a contributing author to several other books including “Bye-Bye Boardroom: Confessions from a New Breed of Mom”, a book that has been featured several times on “The Today Show” and “Nothing But The Truth So Help Me God”. Buhner is also the creator and publisher of one of the first online E-Magazine for moms- “The Mommyzine”- and was the Host of “The Mom Scoop Radio Show”.
Buhner is an advocate for not-for-profit organizations that support children, education, health and wellness. She has been nominated for the Traditional Home Magazine Classic Woman Award and received a Leadership Service Award from former Indiana Governor Mitch Daniels. Buhner is a member of IU’s Parent Advisory Board, which gives important input in the programs and services supported by the Division of Student Affairs. In 2019, Buhner received the university’s Bicentennial Medal, in recognition of her contributions and service to the university.
