Sarah Joann Mitzell received a B.S. and an M.A. in speech and hearing sciences from Indiana University. An incredible philanthropist, Mitzell’s connection to IU is present in most everything she does. As chair of the IU Foundation’s women’s philanthropy leadership council,
Mitzell sits on numerous boards at IU, including the Women’s Philanthropy Leadership Council, College of Arts and Sciences Alumni, and the IU Student Foundation Board of Associates. She also serves on the 2017 Women’s Colloquium Little 500 Scholarship Fund, and is currently the chair of the Regional Division Committee for the IU Student Foundation capital campaign. She is additionally co-chair of membership and development and board member of the Queer Philanthropy Council, and chair of the Regional Division Committee for the IUSF Capital Campaign. Mitzell was previously the president of the COAS Alumni board and serves as co-chair for several associations, including Culver Past Parents Association. In 2019, Mitzell was awarded Indiana University’s Bicentennial Medal, in recognition of her distinguished contributions and service.
