About Angel Rivera

Angel Rivera received a B.A. in Political Science from Indiana University Bloomington, and then earned an M.S. in Real Estate from The University of Texas at Arlington. During his time studying at Indiana University, Rivera was avidly involved in student affairs and governance, serving as regional vice-chair of Indiana Federation of College Republicans for several years. Additionally, he was chairman of IU College Republicans for over four years, during which time he grew the organization to almost 2,000 members and increased its profile and involvement in political campaigns. During his career following schooling, Rivera's relationship with IU continued; he served as a board member of the university's College of Arts and Sciences Alumni Board.

Rivera is a real estate developer based in Texas, and works with universities who are seeking housing for new students. Currently vice president of real estate development at Servitas, Rivera has developed more than $600 million in public-private partnerships for student housing facilities. Rivera's previous career experience includes seven years in the technology industry, leading business development efforts for TCC Software Solutions, served on several public and nonprofit boards, and two years as an elected local official, serving on the Indianapolis City-County Council.

During his education and throughout his career, Rivera has displayed consistent interest and concern for local government, has been personally involved in non-profit organizations, and remains committed to fostering change for universities through increasing student housing. In 2019, Rivera was awarded Indiana University's Bicentennial Medal in recognition of his distinctive service and support of the university.
