Melinda Stanley received a B.A. in microbiology at Miami University and a B.A. in history from Wright State University. She also earned a master of public management from Indiana University Kokomo, and is currently working towards a doctor of health education at A.T. Still University.
Stanley currently serves as a lecturer of health care management, teaching courses in the health care management track of the bachelor of applied sciences at IU Kokomo. Previously, Stanley worked at the Kokomo Sports Center and oversaw the program as they began to teach the HPER-E exercise classes for the university (2005). Additional leadership experience includes positions with the Arthritis Foundation and instructing at sports centers.
Stanley has extensive volunteer experience, including serving on the board of directors for Bright Star Foundation and Indiana University. She is a council member of the Boy Scouts of Sagamore and previously served with the Girl Scouts of Central Indiana. In 2019, Stanley received Indiana University’s Bicentennial Medal, in recognition of her distinguished service and longstanding support of the university. In 2024, Stanley was awarded the President's Award for Excellence in Teaching and Learning Technology.
