Karen McLean received degrees from Ivy Tech and Indiana Wesleyan University. McLean is a dedicated supporter of Indiana University as well, and has greatly advanced the Kokomo, Indiana community.
With over twenty years of combined experience in business development, project management, and community relations, McLean is currently public affairs manager at Northern Indiana Public Service Company (NIPSCO). Prior leadership experience includes serving as the alliance and chamber operations manager for the Greater Kokomo Economic Development Alliance, an events and operations manager for the Greater Greenwood Chamber of Commerce, and a broker for Solution Realtors. McLean owned The Gallery, where she managed and developed an art, framing and accessories residential and corporate consultation program.
McLean is a member of the chamber advisory council for the Greater Kokomo Chamber of Commerce, and a member of the IU Kokomo Advisory Board. In addition to her leadership service on the board, as public affairs manager for NIPSCO, McLean has served as a tremendous asset to the Kokomo community; in 2019, Northside Park was able to install new musical playground equipment, in part due to a significant donation NIPSCO made to the city’s parks and recreation department. McLean also served as chair of the campaign committee charged with raising money to transform Ivy Tech Kokomo’s campus. In 2019, McLean received Indiana University’s Bicentennial Medal, in recognition of her distinguished contributions and longstanding support of the university and the community.
