Monica Porter received a B.A. in psychology from Southern Illinois University. Porter then earned an M.S. in industrial and organization psychology, and a Ph.D. in applied behavioral analysis.
Porter is currently serving at IU South Bend as the vice chancellor for student engagement and success. She has over two decades of experience in higher education, and has served as vice chancellor for enrollment management and student life at the university of Michigan-Dearborn, at Wake Technical Community College, St. Augustine’s University, and as adjunct faculty at Baker College. She was also a Fulbright scholar in the psychology department at the University of Botswana. Additional prior experience includes serving as deputy to the Governor’s special assistant for minority affairs in North Carolina where she impacted communities statewide. Porter was also a consultant, working with non-profit organizations that focused on women’s rights and resources for women and children.
In 2019, Porter was awarded Indiana University’s Bicentennial Medal, in recognition of her distinguished contributions and service to the university, and education as a whole.
