Linda Chen received a B.A. in political science from Queen’s College of the City University of New York, and a Ph.D. in political science from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst.
Chen is currently serving as the interim executive vice chancellor for academic affairs at Indiana University South Bend. Her career at IU South Bend began in the 1990’s as a faculty member in political science with a focus on comparative political development and Latin American politics. Chen then served as chair of the political science department, interim chair of the foreign languages department, interim director of the women’s studies program, and director of the master of public affairs program. Most recently, prior to her current appointment, Chen served as the associate vice chancellor for academic affairs, and dean of undergraduate studies.
Chen has published on Latin American corporatism and regime change, and is a recognized expert in the field of comparative political development. She is a recipient of the Saint Joseph County YWCA Women Educator of the Year award. In 2019, Chen received Indiana University’s Bicentennial Medal, in recognition of her distinguished contributions and service to the university.
